NEW YORK (Reuters) - Allan Houston has come out of retirement to return to the New York Knicks after two years away from the NBA.
Guard Houston retired in October 2005 after suffering with constant knee pains but had been training hard with a view to a comeback, he said.
"After much thought and prayer, I have decided to return to the NBA as a member of the New York Knicks," Houston told the team's website (www.nba.com/knicks).
"I have worked extremely hard in the last year and a half to accomplish my dream of playing in the NBA again," he added.

Houston, 36, was captain of the Knicks for six seasons and is the team's fourth leading scorer of all time, in regular season, with 11,165 points.
"I have seen the Garden in some of its best moments, and I truly believe that this team is on the verge of experiencing that again.
"This team is hungry and energetic. I hope to contribute in the weeks and months ahead," he said.
